The 2023 growing season delivered a gorgeous Summit Chardonnay, with layers of tropical fruit, orange marmalade, yellow plum, jasmine, hazelnut, and honeysuckle. The array of aromatics is echoed on the palate, where they are underscored by a rich, slightly creamy mouthfeel and well-balanced acidity, which contributes to a vibrant and focused finish.

Near the summit of our vineyard is our prized Block Five. Planted to the highly aromatic clone 809, this north-facing block features red volcanic soils that contribute to tiny clusters and low yields.
Clone 809 makes 66% of this Chardonnay and was pressed whole cluster and then settled for 24 hours in a stainless-steel tank before racking to barrel. The barrels used for fermentation and aging included 50% neutral French oak and 50% French acacia, which was selected to underscore the intense aromatics of the clone 809, without imparting significant tannins. Indigenous yeasts performed primary fermentation and the wine underwent 100% spontaneous malolactic fermentation. This wine was aged for nine months on fine fermentation lees.
