Stuhlmuller Vineyards, located in southern Alexander Valley, converges with two highly regarded Sonoma County appellations, Chalk Hill and Russian River Valley. On its eastern edge, the 150-acre vineyard borders the Russian River. Situated in a location that is part river benchlands and part hillside, the vineyard benefits from its alluvial gravel soils and the rockier soils of the hillside sections.
Crafted in a similar style and tradition as theMoscatelwines of Portugal, this special limited-production wine was made exclusively from our Estate Clone 809 Chardonnay grapes, which shows some beautiful intense muscat characteristics. The whole-cluster grapes were foot treaded to release juice for skin contact, which was a period of several hours. After pressing, the juice was settled in tank for 48 hours before being transferred to French oak barrels. Fermentation was arrested with the addition of barrel-aged brandy, and the wine aged in barrel for ten years.
