This beautiful medium-bodied aromatically driven wine begins with dazzling notes of black raspberry, blood orange and rose, as well as aromas of cardamom and white pepper. On the palate, a rich, velvety texture and bright acidity add length and sophistication to the dark berry and Asian plum flavors, with hints sweet tobacco leaf and spice lingering on the energetic finish.
Our Zinfandel was co-fermented with our Petite Sirah as 100% whole berries in open-top stainless-steel fermenters for a 16-day-long maceration period. A traditional manual basket press was then used for this small lot. The wine aged in a mixture of French (50%) and American (50%) oak barrels, with 20% new oak overall. The wine was racked twice and spent a total of 16 months in barrel before gentle crossflow filtration and bottling.
